On January 7, 2021, Honeywell announced that Hengli Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hengli") has successfully adopted UOP's innovative Kellert burner technology to minimize nitrogen oxide (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions and their impact on the environment in China while ensuring safe and stable operation.
In 2017, Hengli decided to adopt Kellert's advanced flare and low-NOx burner technology to comply with environmental regulations and improve the energy efficiency and operational safety of its refining and chemical joint plant in Dalian, Liaoning Province. In response to changes in operating conditions in the field, Kellert equipped the burners in 2020 with innovative Low Fire Mode (LFM) technology to further reduce carbon monoxide emissions, which not only helps reduce emissions, but also improves air quality and eliminates the cause of acid rain.
Typically, when the furnace temperature is below 650°C, the carbon monoxide level emitted by the NOx burner increases. The Kellert burner with low fire mode keeps both NOx and carbon monoxide emissions below 50 mg/Nm3 at the ideal level. This helped Ever-Power overcome a long-standing problem that plagued the industry by reducing nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide emissions to reduce environmental impact without compromising the safety and stability of operations.
"We chose Kellert's combustion technology because it is a world leader in combustion technology and because it was the first to overcome carbon monoxide emissions for NOx burners in China. Liang Peng, director of static equipment of the refining equipment department of Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian) Co., Ltd., said, "And the Kellert burner can be replaced without stopping the furnace and other operations." ”
