In order to meet the requirements of cultural relics protection in the new era, further improve the concept of "preventive protection" of Xi'an ancient city walls, and achieve the goal of establishing a preventive protection management system for Xi'an city walls, Honeywell and the Xi'an City Wall Management Committee recently signed a memorandum of cooperation to jointly build a demonstration platform and management standards for fire protection of ancient buildings, and help Xi'an city wall heritage protection and cultural cooperation.
According to the memorandum, the two parties will jointly establish a research group on the "Smart Fire Safety Management Standard for Ancient Buildings", and Xi'an City Wall will provide an experimental platform for the cooperative item, while Honeywell will provide R&D, technology, implementation team and related software and hardware products involved in the item. Through repeated collection of relevant test data, the functions of smart fire protection facilities and equipment are further improved, and an integrated intelligent interconnected security platform is built from five aspects: real-time monitoring, emergency response, personnel control, hidden danger control, and smart AI Internet of Things operation and maintenance. In addition, the two sides will work together to finally achieve the goal of establishing national (industry) management standards on the basis of platform construction.
Fires have always been a major risk and hidden danger to cultural security, and fire accidents in world-important cultural buildings such as Notre Dame Cathedral in France and the National Museum of Brazil are undoubtedly a major loss of human cultural heritage. In November 2019, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the Ministry of Emergency Management jointly issued the "Guiding Opinions on Further Strengthening the Fire Safety of Cultural Relics", which emphasized the need to strengthen the construction of fire protection facilities, strengthen scientific and technological support, vigorously inspect and rectify cultural relics fire hazards, scientifically prepare emergency response plans, and improve the ability to deal with fire accidents.
"The Xi'an City Wall is the oldest, largest and most well-preserved ancient city wall in China, and as the first smart fire protection platform item for ancient buildings in China, it is of great significance to the promotion of ancient fire protection standards. Li Ye, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Intelligent Building Technology Group in China, said: "By using cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence to promote the combination of technical defense and civil air defense linkage for the protection of cultural relics and ancient buildings, and build a smart interconnected safety platform for the protection of cultural relics and ancient buildings, it will be able to give more value to the fire safety management of ancient buildings." ”

Fan Ming, director of the Xi'an City Wall Management Committee, said: "In recent years, with the continuous development of economy and society, cultural relics, ancient buildings, museums and other units are facing increasingly complex fire inducements and an increasingly severe fire safety situation of cultural relics. In order to further implement the policy of "prevention first, prevention and elimination combined", the management committee has been actively practicing the participation of social forces in the cause of cultural relics protection, and is also very happy to work with high-tech enterprises such as Honeywell to jointly promote the application of advanced fire safety technology of ancient buildings and strengthen the construction of information platforms, so as to enhance the overall fire early warning and prevention and control capabilities. ”
As a provider of cutting-edge technology solutions in the field of intelligent fire safety in buildings, Honeywell has many world-class item implementation cases and successful experience in fire protection of ancient buildings around the world. At the end of last year, Honeywell announced the launch of an upgraded version of the intelligent fire IoT solution, compared with the traditional building fire alarm system, the Honeywell smart fire IoT solution can realize the integration and interconnection of software and hardware, and can improve the intelligent operation and management capabilities of cultural relics and ancient buildings from many aspects such as realizing resource interconnection, improving management efficiency and fire safety prevention capabilities, and even promoting the safety scope of ancient buildings and cultural industries.
